Frequently Asked Questions

What is PAYE and how is it calculated?
PAYE (Pay As You Earn) is an income tax deducted from employee salaries by employers on behalf of ZIMRA. It is calculated using tax bands published by ZIMRA each year. The tax depends on gross income less allowable deductions and applicable rebates. PayDay calculates this automatically on every payroll run.
What is the current NSSA contribution rate?
NSSA contributions are split between employer and employee. The combined rate and the insurable earnings ceiling are set by NSSA and updated periodically. PayDay always uses the current approved rates. Contact our team or check the NSSA guide above for the latest figures.
How many days annual leave is an employee entitled to?
Under the Zimbabwe Labour Act, employees are entitled to a minimum of 30 calendar days annual leave per year (after 12 months of service). Some employment contracts and NEC collective bargaining agreements may provide additional days. PayDay tracks accrual and entitlement automatically.
When must payroll taxes be submitted to ZIMRA?
PAYE deducted in any given month must be remitted to ZIMRA by the 10th day of the following month. Late submission attracts penalties and interest. PayDay generates your P2 submission documents each month so you're always ready to file on time.
Does PayDay support multi-currency payroll?
Yes. PayDay fully supports ZiG (Zimbabwe Gold), USD and mixed-currency payrolls. Tax calculations are applied correctly based on the currency of payment as per current ZIMRA guidance.
What happens when tax rates change?
PayDay's compliance team monitors all ZIMRA and NSSA announcements. When rates change, we update the system before your next payroll run and notify you. You never need to manually update tax tables in PayDay.
